'In Timor we have poverty- we have little food or money.
But we have opportunity. We have a future. We have peace'

Feliciano Da Costa (one of the teacher's supported by etef), November 2002

The east timor education fund (etef) was founded in 2002 to support the exciting future of East Timor. Founded by a professionals who have worked in remote regions of timor, etef is designed to form links between training programs available in timor and those living in remote areas where this support is not available. etef acts as an advocate for those who are most disadvantaged.

et ef supports the work of the government and organisations working within east timor. etef encourages and facilitates access to resources available for those otherwise unable to access these services.

et ef links communites. Communities in east timor are linked. Funding is provided by linking a community in Australia with a community in east timor. Clear benefits for all involved.

forming a real relationship with a community in East Timor is the best way to ensure that the project supported is culturally and practically appropriate. It allows for the project to be well implemented and accepted. It allows appropriate feedback and encourages ongoing support.

for the supporting community in Australia, there is much to be gained by following the progress of a project in a community. There's great value in knowing where money is being spent. It's also a great way to learn about a different culture and way of life.

education & training programs within East Timor are often under-represented by those from poorer and remote areas of Timor. Through supporting access to services within East Timor, etef encourages the linking of communities within East Timor. The potential for professional networking and business is exciting!

et ef is a non-profit, incorporated organisation staffed by volunteers. Projects are designed in collabaration with local people. All funds raised support projects in east timor. There are no administration costs.
